Let’s Talk Security

How seriously do you take your online and offline digital security?

From Antivirus, to Firewalls, and all sorts of crazy-sounding things like Edge-routers, DMZs, VPN and more, there’s a ton of both hardware and software designed to keep you and your organization safe.

Whilst every business should at the very least have a Firewall protecting their network, security shouldn’t just be concerned with protection from the Internet. A good antivirus solution will work to protect you from both online and local threats. A strong VPN will hide and protect your network traffic. Local security policies and systems, like biometrics and device control, will protect your computers from unwanted physical access, or from threats residing on easily transportable USB devices.

So, where do you start?

  • Does your company have a security policy concerning the use of external USB devices? This can range from restricting access, to performing scans on these devices regularly or on-demand.
  • Does your business have a Firewall or any other network security device? Do they keep them up-to-date?
  • Do you make use of free or paid antivirus software? Does this software include browsing protection?
  • How secure is your Wi-Fi password? Do you give it out readily to visitors?
  • Does your network or office employ some kind of access control? Do you use the same USB drives for your home and work computers?
  • Do you use passwords on your machines? Do you know what makes a password strong?
